You can often hear people talk about the painted sands in the West
Or how the mountains in Montana are more beautiful than all the rest
How the sun sets in Kentucky and makes the grass look blue
Or how the sun rising over the ocean is by far the grandest view
How the rolling plains in Kansas go on as far as the eye can see
And the lone star state of Texas with its rolling tumbleweed

You hear ‘em talk about Missouri and the Ozark mountain nights
And how the New England territory has got some beautiful sights
They talk about the Grand Canyon the Great Lakes and Niagara Falls
And no one can ever agree which is the best place of all
I was raised in Arkansas, and I think it is hard to beat
But I’m sure I’d find some people who’d disagree with what I think

There are many places to visit in our beautiful homeland
And from one fine state comes an even finer Bluegrass band

I grew up listening to fiddle players singin’ in a Bluegrass band
I cut my teeth on that music and I’ve always been a big fan

If you’re listenin’ to any other music
Forgive me if I pass
Just give me room to dance a jig
